# Argent vs. mobile-mcp

Your agent taps Checkout, waits, takes a screenshot and reports back: the spinner is still spinning. Accurate, but you knew that.

mobile-mcp, from Mobile Next, launches apps, taps, types and records the screen on iOS and Android. Argent does that too, then looks inside the app: which requests failed on iOS, and why the screen is slow.

Based on each tool's public documentation, checked October 20, 2026.

## What your agent can see after the tap

### The cart says $0

mobile-mcp lets the agent confirm the total is wrong. Argent shows it whether the cart request failed on iOS and, in React Native apps, what the server sent back.

### A slow scroll, explained

Argent profiles the app and shows the agent each freeze. On iOS it also says where the freeze came from and what to try first.

### A closer look at React Native apps

If your app is built with React Native or Expo, the agent can also read console logs, run code in the live app and look through its components.

### Keep the run that worked

Ask the agent to record a path that worked, and Argent saves it as a YAML flow your agent and CI can replay. mobile-mcp leaves that to Mobilewright, a separate library.

## Argent and mobile-mcp, tool by tool

Both connect a coding agent to iOS and Android apps over MCP. They differ most in what the agent can see inside the app.

| Feature | Argent | mobile-mcp |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Built for | Agents that reproduce a bug, find its cause and check the fix | Agents that drive iOS and Android devices |
| Platforms | iOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Electron and Chromium apps | iOS and Android |
| Physical devices | iPhones over USB, Android devices over adb | iPhones through mobilecli and its on-device agent, Android devices over adb |
| Reading the screen | Accessibility tree, plus screenshots and visual diffs against saved baselines | Accessibility tree, with a screenshot fallback |
| Inside the app | Native view tree on iOS. In React Native apps, also console logs, JS evaluation and the React tree | Device logs and crash reports |
| Network | Request URLs and status codes on the iOS simulator, no proxy needed. Not in Flutter apps yet | Not included |
| Profiling | Xcode Instruments on iOS: slow code and freezes. Perfetto on Android: freezes | Not included |
| Repeatable tests | YAML flows with optional screenshot checks, replayed by the agent or `argent e2e run` in CI | Not built in. Mobile Next offers the separate Mobilewright library |
| Device clouds | BrowserStack, AWS Device Farm, Limrun and TestMu AI, plus Argent Cloud with dedicated iOS simulators | Mobile Next Cloud: real iOS and Android devices, billed per minute |

## mobile-mcp questions, answered

### What is the difference between Argent and mobile-mcp?

mobile-mcp controls the device: apps, screen elements, gestures, screenshots, recordings, device logs and crash reports. Argent drives the app the same way but doesn't read device logs or crash reports. It adds network inspection on iOS, profiling with Xcode Instruments and Perfetto, and replayable e2e flows.

### Can mobile-mcp see network requests or console logs?

It reads live device logs (logcat on Android, the unified log on iOS) and crash reports. It has no network or profiling tools. On the iOS simulator, Argent lists your app's network requests with their status codes. In React Native apps, it also reads console logs and the responses to fetch calls, on Android too. It does not read the device logs of native apps.

### Does mobile-mcp work with real iPhones?

Yes. It drives physical iPhones over USB through mobilecli and its on-device agent, and Android devices over adb. Argent also drives iPhones over USB and Android devices over adb.

### Does mobile-mcp tap from screenshots or the accessibility tree?

It reads the accessibility tree first and falls back to screenshots with coordinate taps. Argent works much the same way. The agent aims at elements from the accessibility tree, and can tap any point on the screen when an element isn't in it.

### Which coding agents work with mobile-mcp and Argent?

Both work with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Windsurf and other MCP clients. Agents without MCP support can still call Argent from the shell.

## Find out why the spinner keeps spinning

With Argent, your agent taps through your iOS and Android app and finds out why a screen is slow or empty. The paths that work can become end-to-end tests.
